"a twist of
soul"
Subject: Bio on Jackson Slade
This Florida Native out of Jacksonville who remains a self-taught musician through
out most of his musical venture, if you don't count a short one semester perusal at North
Texas State University to open some areas of musical discipline. This was a benefit
of serving in the Armed forces prier to NTSU.
After the University, he returned to Gainesville Florida and worked in theatre as a
carpenter building sets. He recalls this adventure was great fun! "Being around
talented people is very inspiring," according to Jackson, and theatre folks are a
wild bunch. "Much of my material was inspired through observations of these immediate
surroundings!"
Jackson moved to Nashville in '93, and has lived through the "Writers Night"
limbo off and on. Two years of this settlement was devoted to his first CD release,
"River of Gold".
Although officially released July of '99 the actual print date was fall of '98. This album
took awhile coming to the surface. It was on and off again, due to the unfortunate habit
of having to eat and dwell.
His first record, "Moonrise Project", was a completely self-played,
self-produced album, done in 8 tracks, had some real heart. Pulling partly from his
country roots, he laughingly calls "Country & Eastern" and his love for
jazz, he set out to create his own unique sound. He's carried this same approach into
"River of Gold" with some great help from his good friend producer Kevin Wicker.
Jackson has a new CD completed, titled "Howlin' At the Moon", and is working on
a newer CD "God must be Crying".... He's Also planning an all instrumental jazz
album in the near future.
His love for music has given him the determination to venture in all styles of music as
well as multi-instruments. Alto and soprano sax are his first love, guitar, flute, and
most recently keyboards are all serious contenders that take him to the woodshed from time
to time!
Jackson likes to write so that he can incorporate these various instruments into his music, and this belief in the future of his music, keeps Jackson always striving to be fresh with his approach to every song he writes.
